Ritual: Shower Time

I write a lot about skin care and make up, but rarely about what happens in the shower. (I'm talking about the products I use, dirty birds!) Though I'm still searching for holy grail products in a lot of categories, I have found the perfect shampoo/conditioner combo and bar soap. Therefore, it's high time I filled you readers in on my quick and simple shower routine.

I typically shower at night. If I shower in the morning, it's more of a post-workout "bird bath."That just involves a little soap on the important bits, a quick rinse, and a slathering of body lotion. So let's talk about what happens after dark. I shower every other day (unless I'm feeling particularly gross). I lather up with Yarok Feed Your Volume Shampoo. I want to emphasize the word "lather" because this shampoo actually produces one - a rare feat in the natural beauty world. It also never leaves any type of residue in my hair, which I am over the moon about. (You have no idea how long and hard I have searched for a shampoo as perfect as this one.) After a thorough rinse, I apply Yarok Feed Your Volume Conditioner. I adore this lightweight conditioner. It perfectly conditions each strand without weighing my hair down. While the conditioner is working its magic, I wash my body (just the important parts) with either Soapwalla Organic Hand and Body Wash or Osmia Organics Milky Rose Soap. As far as liquid body washes go, you can't beat Soapwalla. Unlike liquid soaps I have used in the past, this one is non-drying and non-irritating. And if you are an avid reader of this blog, you know that I am obsessed with Osmia's Milky Rose Soap. It is hands down the perfect bar of soap - HIGHLY moisturizing and a scent to die for. Once in a blue moon, I exfoliate my body. I really enjoy Splurge Skincare The Rub in Almond. It leaves my skin crazy soft and smells insanely good. I also just received the Come Clean Cosmetics Exfoliating Mitt and I can't wait to start experimenting with it. (Victoria of La Bella Figura is a fan!) A quick rinse and I'm out!

Out of the shower, I normally apply a fast-absorbing body oil. I just finished my bottle of Stark Skincare Meadowfoam Body Oil and absolutely LOVED it. The texture is very luxurious and has a delicious scent to match. I would definitely repurchase it (if I hadn't just ordered two new Jiva Apoha oils!!!) If I'm not feeling an oil, I apply my trusty Acure body lotion. I am addicted to this lotion. (It is the natural version of my favorite Aveeno lotion.) I typically don't apply any styling products to my hair. I wear it up almost every single day so what's the point? However, if my ends have been dry and frizzy, I like to apply a hair oil. I'm currently alternating between Balanced Guru No Frizz oil and  Razzle Dazzle oil. The Razzle Dazzle oil saved my hair after a few drying days at the beach (salt and sun are not your hair's friends). I comb the oil through and continue on with my skin care routine.

And that's it! Nothing too fancy or complicated. I swear I'm going to start dry brushing one of these days...
