Macadamia nuts are little orbs of perfection in my opinion. They taste great, offer numerous health benefits, and make personal care products just that much more fun to use. Why? Because macadamia nut oil is a lightweight oil that is wonderful for all skin types. It nourishes, balances, and has the magical ability to help heal and fade scars.
What makes macadamia nut oil so nourishing? Fatty acids of course! The same fatty acids that make macadamia nuts so good for your insides make them great for your outsides as well. Macadamia nut oil is a rich source of palmitoleic acid. This omega 7 fatty acid is plentiful in our skin when we are young, but slowly diminishes with age. This is particularly devastating because palmitoleic acid promotes cell regeneration. All is not lost though. Simply apply macadamia nut oil and bask in its powerful anti-aging benefits.
Interestingly, the very same palmitoleic acid responsible for these moisturizing properties is also responsible for macadamia nut oil's balancing effect on the skin. Palmitoleic acid is the most prominent fatty acid in human sebum. This means macadamia nut oil can shut off hyperactive oil glands by tricking the skin into thinking that it's already producing enough sebum.
These same characteristics also make macadamia nut oil perfect for hair. It fights frizzes without adding weight or grease.
Are you a macadamia nut convert yet? If not, just check out my favorite macadamia-nut containing products and I guarantee you'll be seeking out this tropical delight before you know it -
Yuli Cell Perfecto PM - It has been a long time since I've used this miraculous oil, but that ends this week because I just placed an order for another bottle. It really works to fade scars and dark spots. This is not really surprising though considering the laundry list of powerhouse ingredients it contains - tamanu, gotu kola, sea buckthorn, reishi, and of course, macadamia!
Pai Age Confidence Oil - This is a rich, nourishing oil that is perfect for dry skin and skin looking for a little anti-aging boost. The oils in this blend nurture and regenerate. Plus, because Pai formulates with the most sensitive skin in mind, I never have to worry about a potential reaction. Can't help but love that!
May Lindstrom The Good Stuff - This blend contains rich, velvety oils laced with glittering mica all wrapped in a seductive fragrance. Body oils don't get any sexier than this. Trust me when I tell you that it's unlike anything you've tried before. Over the top? Maybe. Decadent? Of course. Absolutely essential? You bet.
Aster + Bay Cleansing Oil - This line was a recent discovery and I'm so glad I found it. I mean the packaging alone is worth a second look (or three or four in my case). I am a recent convert to the "Art of Double Cleansing" and I can't wait to incorporate this gorgeous cleansing oil into my routine!

I've used macadamia oil in my hair but am currently sampling May Lindstrom's the good stuff - it's pretty fabulous. I wasn't sure about the scent at first but I think as the seasons transition it might be a staple!
