Makeup Look(s): Wedding Weekend

It was a busy, fun-filled weekend. My husband's best friend from childhood got married so each day was packed with wedding festivities - the rehearsal dinner on Friday, wedding ceremony and reception on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday. All of this celebrating gave me a chance to play with multiple different makeup looks!!! Here is how each day looked -

On Friday, I decided to go for a bright lip, neutral eye look. As always, I applied RMS "Un" Cover-Up to conceal any blemishes and set it with RMS "Un" Powder. I then swirled a light layer of Ilia Multi-Stick in Tenderly over my cheeks. (I'm still obsessed with this pinky-blue blush.) I then dotted RMS Living Luminizer over my cheekbones and brow bones. It's been awhile since I've used this lovely highlighter, but I am always mesmerized by the way it magically lights my face. I lined my eyes with Jane Iredale Eye Pencil in black/brown and applied Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer Eye Shadow in Buttercream over my entire lid. I finished my eyes with a generous coat of Kjaer Weis Mascara. This mascara is gorgeous! It's the best mascara I have ever used. (And I'm counting cult-classic drugstore mascaras as well!) As the final touch, I applied Ilia Lipstick in Neon Angel. I am a new convert to the bright lip, but it's quickly become my go-to look.

For the ceremony, I started with the usual suspects - "Un" Cover-Up, "Un" Powder, and Tenderly. However, I reached for Ilia Illuminator in Polka Dots and Moonbeams to highlight my cheekbones. I love the gel texture and the barely-there glow it imparts. I then applied my all-time favorite nude lip shade - Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in Nobody's Baby. If you are currently using Nars Dolce Vita lipstick, throw it out, and replace it with this. Not only is Nobody's Baby non-toxic, but it's also that holy grail "my lips, but better" shade that we are all secretly (or not so secretly) searching for. I left my eyes bare except for a coat of Kjaer Weis mascara. I loved this simple, elegant day-time look.

There was a break between the ceremony and the reception so I was able to spice up my evening look. I applied RMS Cream Eyeshadow in Solar and swapped out Nobody's Baby for RMS Lip Shine in Sacred. This golden eyeshadow and fruit punch lip gloss are always a knock-out combination. It's sexy, but not over-the-top.

On Sunday I kept it really (REALLY) simple. I applied "Un" Cover-Up and "Un" Powder, but left my cheeks bare save for a quick swipe of Ilia Polka Dots and Moonbeams. This drew light to my face to keep it from looking too one-dimensional. I applied my beloved Kjaer Weis mascara and finished the entire look with Ilia Lipstick Crayon in Karma Chameleon. This shade is bright, but at the same time stays somewhat neutral. For this reason, I imagine it looks gorgeous on just about every skin tone.

Whew! It was a great weekend. I can't believe it's already Monday...

    1. It's barely there when compared to living luminizer. Polka dots and moonbeams brightens without being too obvious. Highlighter is definitely a must for dull skin (that and a great vitamin C serum!!!)

  4. I love all of your product and color combinations. What do you prefer more, Living Luminizer or Polkadots & Moonbeams? Do you think they are both worth having? I have and love living luminizer but after trying Ilia's Sway illuminator I am so tempted to try the Polkadots & Moonbeams. Also I NEED Ilia's Neon Angel in my life. This post just reminded me of that again.

    1. Hmmm that is such a hard question. I really like them both. If I had to choose though, I think I like Polka Dots and Moonbeams slightly more. It has a really cool gel texture (like Sway) and the highlight it provides isn't too over-the-top. It looks more "lit from within." That being said, Living Luminizer looks kind of amazing on the eyelid and I like using it at night because it has a little bit more of a wow factor. Considering how much you love makeup, I'd say you need both!!! haha.

And yes, Neon Angel is freakin awesome!!! Coolest shade I've ever worn. You'll have to show me some of your favorites in NYC. I need to expand my makeup collection!
