As I mentioned in previous posts, I am very picky about shampoos. Foam is very much a requirement. Or at least I thought it was. Enter Josh Rosebrook Deep Nourishing Shampoo. The version that I was sent by the wonderful Josh himself has exactly zero foam. Typically this would signal the end for that shampoo and relegate it straight to the giveaway bin. But the beautiful roster of ingredients - african black soap, sage, oregano, peppermint - had me give it a chance. Imagine my surprise when out of the bottle came an almost lotion-like texture. Washing my hair with lotion?? As crazy as it sounds, it's a deeply satisfying experience to hydrate your hair while cleansing it. Turns out lather isn't all it's cracked up to be (or even necessary at all).
But the real test for me is how my hair air dries. And I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the results. My locks were soft, shiny, and almost frizz-free. My only qualm with this shampoo is that I almost felt the need to wash my hair every day while using it. (Granted I haven't really found a shampoo that allows me to go 3-4 days between washings like I hear everyone else talk about. What is this shampoo? Does it exist?) Additionally, I think a creamy shampoo requires a few weeks adjustment. I will check back shortly to let you know if my hair is still loving this shampoo.
Bottom line - I highly recommend this shampoo for thick, curly hair types! For all other hair types, this is definitely a shampoo to have in your arsenal for those days when your hair is feeling dry and annoyingly fuzzy.

I've never tried this but so many other blogger have been singing its praises! How well do you think it'll work for straight/wavy, thick hair that can be both dry and oily? (Crazy hair type, I know.)
ReplyDeleteThat's my hair type! ha. I haven't been able to use it every day. I alternate it with another shampoo. BUT Josh did tell me that normally the shampoo has some foaming power. I just received a no foam batch! And thank you for all of your comments! They always make my day!!!
DeleteI tried the Yarok one the other day and wondered if the label was wrong & I got a styling cream because it looked like a lotion and didn't foam haha! Then I got a sample of this one & thought the same!! But the Yarok one did clean my hair so I'm looking forward to this although I would hate having to wash my hair every day....I'm currently using Trilogy duo and I washed my hair on Sunday and then again last night...perfect! xx
