DIY: Toner
This is another slightly modified recipe inspired by the very talented Adina of SW Basics of Brooklyn. It combines rose water, organic apple cider vinegar, lavender essential oil, and lemon essential oil. Rose water soothes, calms, and cools the skin. Apple cider vinegar regulates the pH of the skin, promotes blood circulation, and has antiseptic properties that destroy acne-causing bacteria. Like ACV, lavender essential oil also has antiseptic and antifungal properties. In addition, lavender essential oil regenerates tissue and hastens wound healing. Similarly, lemon essential oil detoxifies the skin and combats acne.
As you might imagine, this toner is amazing for acne-prone skin BUT it's potent. Start slow by applying only once per day. I also find that this toner works best when applied with a cotton pad rather than with a spray bottle. When you spray this mixture all you smell is ACV, which isn't exactly pleasant. When you apply with a cotton pad, you really experience the intoxicating aromas of lavender and lemon.
Recipe
4 ounces of rose water
1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
5 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops lemon essential oil
Mix and enjoy!
